Established in 1934, the school has accommodated a considerable number of gifted university applicants. It has 45 advanced and well equipped educational and research laboratories with some of the most sophisticated equipments in the Middle East such as the high voltage and thin layer laboratories. Several research projects in the fields of electronics, communication, control, robotics, bio-medical engineering, IT, and hardware engineering have been conducted introducing new technologies to the country. The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering shares an area of 7,000 square meters with the Electrotechniqe Institute in the second campus of the Faculty of Engineering. More over a modern high voltage laboratory was developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy in an area of about 2,000 square meters, recently. The access to the Electrotechnic Institute resources and the three centers of excellence of: Applied Electromagnetic Systems, Control and Intelligent Systems, Nano Electronics has made this school one of the outstanding Electrical and Computer Engineering departments in the country that meets the international standards for training students and conducting research projects.This school offers the following degree programs In B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. Levels: Electronics, Communication, Electrical Power, Control Systems, Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Bio-Medical Engineering, Computer Architecture (M.Sc. and Ph.D.), Robotics (M.Sc. and Ph.D.), IT (B.Sc. and M.Sc.), Nanotechnology (only Ph.D.). Currently, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of University of Tehran has about 1100 undergraduate and 530 graduate students including 76 Ph.D. students. It should be mentioned that the first graduate in the Electrical Engineering course at the Ph.D. level in the whole country was alumni of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Tehran.
